Working Principle Of Metal Bellows

Nov 02, 2025 Leave a message

Metal bellows (compensators) absorb displacement in pipelines caused by temperature changes (-235~+450℃), pressure fluctuations (up to 32MPa), or mechanical vibration through elastic deformation. Its core component, the bellows, is made of austenitic stainless steel (such as 304/316L). It can compensate axially, laterally, or angularly. Main types include axial type (single/external pressure), direct-buried type, and hinged type. It is suitable for applications such as thermal pipelines (temperature compensation), chemical systems (corrosion resistance), and water supply and drainage (settlement resistance), reducing noise and extending pipeline life. During installation, attention must be paid to soil temperature, design span, and compensation amount control.
